Camerata soothes at launch of The Hive

Thursday 7 October saw Manchester Camerata help launch The Hive – the Argent and Manchester City Council co-development in the Northern Quarter. The Stephenson Square-based project joins other contemporary local developments such as The Sharp Project and MediaCityUK in its quest to market itself to tenants in the creative industries.

The official launch, masterminded by Ear to the Ground, saw The Hive’s twin towers take on characters of their own, with one themed as ‘live’ and the other ‘breathe’. The ‘live’ tower highlighted the tangible offer of the development and was soundtracked by music from the Band on the Wall DJs, while ‘breathe’ saw a more relaxed atmosphere, with a focus on intangibles, music from Manchester Camerata (sponsored by Argent) and head and neck massages for guests. |

Oliver Butler, project manager, said the event was “fantastic” and that the building is now “40% let.”
So far the Arts Council England and The Studio are the key tenants. Butler said he was “extremely optimistic about letting the remaining space.”
The Hive has been designed by HKR Architects and offers 80,000 sq ft of space. It is said to be one of the most environmentally friendly office developments in the country.
