AMC Gospel Choir 

We are now in our third year in partnership with AMC Gospel Choir, who are led by the inspirational director Audrey Mattis which stemmed from our work in Hacienda Classical.

AMC Gospel Choir have performed at the MOBO Awards, International Festivals and on BBC Songs of Praise.

The choir maintain a strong Manchester connection and were invited to perform 1st anniversary or Manchester Bombing in Albert Square. Audrey also works closely with our Camerata in the Community as a practitioner and workshop leader.

AMC Gospel Choir have worked with Camerata on our annual Manchester: Festival Happening at Albert Hall – a true staple of the Manchester Christmas calendar.


Laura Bowler

‘My pieces are never just a piece of music’.

Laura has studied at RNCM, RAM and has an MA in Theatre Directing from RADA. Artistic Director of Size Zero Opera Company and a long standing partner of  Manchester Camerata, Laura has produced multiple commissions and has previously been our composer in residence.

Laura has also worked on major commissions from London Philharmoinc Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta and ROH2.


Jess Gillam

A Classic Brit Award winner of 2018 and with a BBC Proms debut in 2017, Jess has worked in partnership with us for the past three years. Bringing her passion and talent, Jess has worked with our orchestra and Camerata in the Community team and wowed audiences.

Jess was the first Saxophonist to win the Woodwind Final of BBC Young Musician of the Year – 2016.  Jess is proudly Manchester based, studying at RNCM.

Our partnership with Jess marries our pursuit of artistic excellence and vision to redefine performance.


Hugo Ticciati

‘A rare ability to convey a profound understanding of the music and shed light on its spiritual intent’ Arvo Pärt.

Hugo has a holistic approach to music making, incorporating aspects of literature, philosophy, dance, spirituality and meditation. He is Artistic Director of O/Modernt Festival and Principal Conductor of Orchestra da Camera di Perugia (from 2019). Hugo brings a new dynamic to the Manchester Camerata portfolio of work, as well as his passion for all forms of music making, ranging from Bach, Indian ragas to Muse.

Hugo enables us to forge strong relationships with leading contemporary composers and commissions written for him. Manchester Camerata and Hugo have preciously explored movement and improvisation in workshops and performance.
