Gabor’s October Revolution
Posted on October 24, 2010
Saturday October 23 2010 was a big day for Manchester Camerata in so many ways. The Pictures from St Petersburg concert at the RNCM Concert Hall brought together Music Director Designate Gábor Takács-Nagy with newly appointed Leader Giovanni Guzzo in Manchester for the first time, with world renowned cellist Miklos Perényi in a thrilling sell-out concert.
The line up included a new work Windows on the Neva by one of the country’s leading young composers, Nina Whiteman. |
During the day children from St Philips Primary School rehearsed and then performed their contribution to Camerata’s season-long Urban Symphony education project, and then performed it live on the RNCM stage with Manchester Camerata musicians. |
In addition to all this, the show was being beamed live out fo the hall to Exchange Square in Manchester, and around the world on Medici.tv and Manchester Camerata’s own website. Watch the slideshow for a flavour of one truly exciting day in October. |
