Win a Trip to Leipzig

To celebrate Manchester Camerata’s season of music inspired by great towns and cities across the world, we’re offering a trip for two people to Leipzig – home to Bach, Wagner, and many other musical greats.
Leipzig is the largest city in Saxony in the old East Germany.  In the 17th Century it was one of Europe’s most important cities for learning and culture – especially music. Its university was founded in the 15th Century, and the city was the scene of The Battle of the Nations which put an end to Napoleon’s conquest of Europe. Since unification many of its historic buildings have been restored.

Johann Sebastian Bach made his home in Leipzig, and it was also the birthplace of Richard Wagner.  Schumann, Mendelssohn and Mahler have also been closely associated with the city.  Mendelssohn House – now a museum – is the only surviving residence of the composer.
