Nina Whiteman
Nina’s work Windows on the Neva was chosen to be performed during Manchester Camerata’s Pictures from St Petersburg concert on 23 October 2010.
She studied music at Oxford University and went on to postgraduate studies in composition at The University of Manchester. Many of her compositions take inspiration from extra-musical sources including visual art and poetry, reflecting her activities as a painter and her interest in vocal techniques. |
She was selected for the 2009 Sound and Music Composer Shortlist for her piece The invention of clouds.
As a singer, Nina specialises in challenging repertoire composed in the last fifty years and sings with Trio Atem, who are committed to high quality, engaging performances of new works and pieces from recent repertoire.
Nina has experience of education work with group of all ages and abilities: she was composer for a schools’ education project The Tempest Transformed, and has worked as Assistant Composer on spnm Sound Inventors and Bar One and Beyond projects.
