A special day in so many ways.  Apart from bringing Gábor Takács-Nagy together with newly appointed Leader Giovanni Guzzo in Manchester for the first time, they were joined by the internationally renowned cellist – and fellow Hungarian – Miklos Perényi.

The performance also featured a new work, written by young Manchester based composer Nina Whiteman, which was developed in collaboration with Sound and Music.

It was a night of new music and new sounds, with the presentation of a novel arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures from an Exhibition.

Miklos Perenyi Cellist Miklos Perényi fitted with Manchester Camerata, Gabor and Giovanni like a glove and wowed the audience with a virtuosic performance of the Tchaikovsky, and soaked up the ovation after the performance.

The sell-out audience at the Royal Northern College of Music Concert Hall weren’t alone in experiencing the exciting and electrically charged concert.

Thanks to the Manchester Digital Development Agency and Let’s Go Global, the concert was being beamed out of the building onto the BBC Big Screen in Exchange Square, and even further afield on Manchester Camerata’s own website, plus around the world on the prestigious Medici.TV classical music network.

Judging by the applause at the end of the concert, the overal impression of the concert was very favourable indeed.

If you are sad to have missed this concert – it will soon be available on Medici.tv for 60 days after the concert date.
