Conductor – Geoffrey Paterson
Geoffrey Paterson studied at Cambridge University, the RSAMD and the National Opera Studio. In 2009 he was awarded First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Ninth Leeds Conductors Competition. In 2010 he joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House.
He has worked on the music staff of The Royal Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, British Youth Opera and the Edinburgh International Festival. In 2010 he made his debut at Opera North conducting La Bohème, and in 2011 he will make his Glyndebourne debut as Musical Director for the world première of a new opera by Julian Phillips. As an orchestral conductor, he has appeared at the Aldeburgh and Cheltenham Festivals. Forthcoming debuts include the Manchester Camerata’s 2011 New Year’s Concert at the Bridgewater Hall. In 2010 he founded the Theseus Ensemble, specialising in repertoire of the late 20th and 21st Centuries. |
