Relive Beethoven 9 on Medici TV
Posted on January 30, 2011
Camerata’s Beethoven 9 at The Bridgewater Hall on 29 January 2011 was a sell-out! But if you weren’t able to get tickets for the show, or would like to relieve the experience, Manchester Camerata is making the magnificant concert available online in association with Medici.tv until April 1.
Manchester Camerata’s critically acclaimed cycle of Beethoven symphonies – all recorded live at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall with the orchestra’s current Music Director, Douglas Boyd – reached its conclusion on Saturday 29 January 2011 with the performance of Symphony no.9, the Choral Symphony.
Douglas Boyd was joined by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Chorus (CBSO) and a team of top flight soloists: Rebecca von Lipinski (soprano), Anna Grevelius (mezzo soprano), Peter Wedd (tenor) and Roderick Williams (baritone). Continuity with the earlier recordings in the cycle was guaranteed by the return of the orchestra’s former leader, Richard Howarth, especially for this concert. The audio recording, will be issued in 2012 on the AVIE label. |
