The Bruntwood Awards for Arts & Business North 2011, which celebrate business success including young people, cultural branding and people development, took place at Manchester’s Town Hall on Wednesday 23 March.
Geoffrey Shindler, Chairman of Manchester Camerata’s board and Director at the Royal Exchange, was awarded The Midland Hotel Board Member of the Year Award. We are delighted that his long-time commitment to the arts has been recognised.
The prestigious £10,000 Lever Prize award was presented to The Whitworth Art Gallery. Launched six years ago, The Lever Prize aims to revive the philanthropic traditions of the industrial past, embodied by soap magnate and patron of the arts, Lord Leverhulme. Each year it is judged by the North West Business Leadership Team, which comprises senior representatives of the 30 largest companies in the region, in partnership with Arts & Business North. The Whitworth became the sixth organisation to receive the annual accolade.
