Camerata’s Cameo Orchestra
Posted on November 11, 2011
Sunday 16 October saw the latest gathering of Manchester Camerata’s Cameo Orchestra. The ensemble provides the opportunity for new or rusty musicians to be challenged in a professional setting to learn new repertoire and meet new friends. |
Amateur players from across the North West joined Camerata musicians – Laurence Perkins and Richard Howarth – at the Royal Northern College of Music for a day of playing, coaching and meeting like-minded friends.
The orchestra meets around two times per season, and focuses on a work which is related in some way to the main Manchester Camerata concert series. The repertoire for this particular day was Dvorak’s New World Symphony and included full rehearsals as well as sectionals, culminating in a performance at the end of the day to show off the great improvement from beginning to end. |
“I most enjoyed all of it! …Keep doing them!” – Cameo Attendee |
Manchester Camerata’s next Cameo Orchestra day is Sunday 4 March 2012, 2-8pm and will be for separate wind (and horns!) and string orchestras. |
