Manchester Camerata and Strauss’s Voice Festival On BBC Radio 3
Posted on February 25, 2014
On Saturday 22 February Camerata took to the Bridgewater Hall stage as part of the Strauss’s Voice Festival, as Manchester celebrates 150 years of Strauss’s birth.
The concert opened with BBC New Generation artist Ruby Hughes in a selection of Strauss songs, and ended with an atmospheric post-concert performance of his stunning Metamorphosen, brought into a more intimate and atmospheric setting as the lights were dimmed. The concert also featured Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25, with Liverpool born pianist Paul Lewis, followed by Beethoven’s epic and much anticipated Eroica Symphony.
The concert was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 with Tom McKinney. A recording of the post-concert performance of Strauss’s Metamorphosen will be broadcast in the near future, so keep on the lookout for an announcement from us.
