Songlines Is Back And We Need You!

Posted on September 16, 2014

Manchester Camerata’s Songlines project returns this month and we’d like more young people, with or without ASD/Asperger’s Syndrome, to take part.

Songlines is an exciting opportunity for young people with ASD and their peers to explore music, art and drama in a friendly and supportive setting.

This year they will work with artists from Manchester Camerata and the Royal Exchange Theatre to devise a brand new piece of music theatre over 20 weekly sessions.

In the first term the sessions will be held at the Royal Northern College of Music on Oxford Road. The young people will be immersed in the creative process and create material amongst their peers. There will be one group which meets on Tuesday nights for children aged 10-14 with ASD/ Asperger’s, and one group which meets on Thursday nights for children aged 10-14 without ASD/ Asperger’s.

In the second term the two groups will come together on a Monday night in sessions which will be held at the Royal Exchange Theatre on Cross Street. They will combine the material they’ve created and work towards a performance at the end of March.

If your son or daughter is aged 10-14 and would be interested in taking part in either the Tuesday or Thursday group, please let us know. No background in the creative arts is required.

Please contact Lucy Geddes on 0161 908 0042 or email lgeddes@manchestercamerata.com

Songlines is free to attend, however due to limited numbers, please book in advance.

Booking deadline: 26 September 2014.
