Michael was chief music critic at The Daily Telegraph for many years and published many books, including biographies on Elgar and Vaughan Williams amongst other composers. A guru on the works of Richard Strauss, Michael was Honorary Patron of the Strauss’s Voice festival held in Manchester last year.

Amongst the many things he did, Michael was a loyal Camerata Patron and supporter for many years, and we will miss him dearly. We offer our sincere condolences to Michael’s family and friends.
