Talking Point, 6.30pmThomas Gould talks about the Arpeggione, the sublime sonata Schubert wrote for the instrument, and this recent arrangement for violin and orchestra.Nicholas Collon conductorThomas Gould violinThis dynamic programme features Stravinsky&s tongue-in-cheek chamber concerto Dumbarton Oaks, and music by two thoroughly American voices, John Adams and Aaron Copland. Copland&s Appalachian Spring tells the story of a spring celebration of the American pioneers of the 1800s after building a new Pennsylvania farmhouse. You&ll also get to hear a rare performance of Schubert&s Arpeggione Sonata. Originally written for the arpeggione (a six-stringed musical instrument, fretted and tuned like a guitar but bowed like a cello), this evening an arrangement for violin will be performed by Thomas Gould, one of the leading British violinists of the younger generation.Ticket Prices £16.00 / £13.50 (concessions) / £2 (under 18s)Booking InformationTelephone 01282 661234In person, go to The Muni Box Office, Pendle Leisure Trust, Bank House, 61 Albert Road, Colne BB8 0BP
