Mozart Reworked – Ulverston
Date: Thursday 17th November 2011 19:30
Venue: Coronation Hall, Ulverston
A tribute to the genius that is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, this programme juxtaposes his famous Wind Serenade K375 with works and arrangements that pay tribute to his music. Josef Triebensee, composer and some-time oboist in many performances conducted by Mozart himself, arranged some of the much-loved tunes from the opera Don Giovanni, while Paul Reade’s Serenata makes a nod to the same opera. British composer Jonathan Dove, famed for his own opera works, wrote his Serenade, Figures in the Garden, taking inspiration from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
Talking Point, 6.30pmCamerata bassoonist Laurence Perkins talks about music for wind ensemble by Mozart and others.
