Manchester Camerata ‘Closer’ – Hull
Date: Saturday 30th June 2012 19:30
Venue: Hull City Hall, Hull
Adi Brett, director
A beautiful programme of classics from the pens of Mozart, Haydn, and Elgar in the beautiful acoustic of Hull City Hall. Haydn’s Symphony no.87 was the last of 6 ‘Paris’ Symphonies, and Mozart’s second Violin Concerto, although written in Salzburg, also shows how influential the French musical style was at the time. Mozart wrote his concerto at the tender age of 18, and Elgar’s popular Serenade for Strings was also written when the composer was just starting on his career and has a youthful charm. The concert concludes with Mozart’s Symphony no.29 a work which combines lyrical grace with energetic and effervescent music.
