Janacek, Mozart And Haydn In Stafford

Date: Friday 11th October 2013 19:30

Venue: Gatehouse Theatre, Stafford

The multi-award-winning French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet returns in a concerto double-bill – Mozart&s charming Piano Concerto no.17 and Haydn&sPiano Concerto in F. Haydn and Jan&a’ÜÎçek, often undeservedly overshadowed respectively by Mozart and Dvo’Ä_Ü¢&ak, are two composers drawn to the earth – Haydn to the Hungarian character he picked up in his isolation at Esterhazy Palace, Jan&a’ÜÎçek to his native Czech folklore. Jan&a’ÜÎçek&s Suite is a gorgeously lyrical, folk-infused work for string orchestra. Haydn&s emotional Trauer or Mourning Symphony, full of endless characters and colours, will bring the programme to a dramatic conclusion.

“I was cut off from the world. There was no one to confuse or torment me, and I was forced to become original.” Joseph Haydn
