Date: Monday 19th August 2013 19:30

Venue: Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall, Manchester

Manchester Camerata will once again accompany the finalists in this year’s Manchester International Piano Concerto Competition for Young Pianists.International young pianists will have performed in the preliminary stages of the competition during the Chetham&s International piano summer school. Three finalists will perform a concerto of their choice with Manchester Camerata, under conductor Stephen Threlfallat the Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall, University of Manchester.Jury includes Noriko Ogawa, Matthias Kirschnereit and Murray McLachlan.

The competition was successfully launched in 2007 and offers young pianists the rare and exciting opportunity to perform a concerto with an outstanding professional orchestra. It is unusual too in that every member of the jury is a well established concert pianist. In this respect it looks back to an earlier era of musical history, when the majority of jurors in piano competitions were players rather than teachers or critics. But the emphasis of the competition is forward looking, emphasising the positive for every young pianist who chooses to enter what promises to be an outstanding international event.

CONCERT: 7.30PMTICKETS: £12, £10**£2.50 fee per transaction applies.
