Haydn, Mozart And Schubert In Sheffield

Date: Friday 04th October 2013 19:30

Venue: Sheffield

The 2013/14 season offers the opportunity to hear Manchester Camerata perform a fully-orchestral programme, the first in Sheffield for over three years. Giovanni Guzzo, Manchester Camerata&s versatile Leader, takes the role as soloist and director in Mozart&s exuberant Violin Concerto in A, with its attractive Turkish-style finale. Mozart&s influence can be found in the short, witty and sunny Fifth Symphony of Franz Schubert. At the time of its composition, Schubert was infatuated with the legacy left by his fellow Austrian composer, writing in his diary that year, “O Mozart! Immortal Mozart! What countless impressions of a brighter, better life hast thou stamped upon our souls!” Haydn&s expressive Symphony No.44, which is unusually written in a minor key, opens this fascinating concert.
