#Cameratatheatre
Date: Friday 17th October 2014 19:30
Venue: Albert Hall, Manchester
The dramatic worlds of lighting, production and music collide for an arresting performance of Ligeti&s highly theatrical Mysteries of the Macabre. Experience the versatile talent of our Principal Trumpet, Tracey Redfern, as you&ve never seen her before.
We pair Beethoven&s brusque and joyful Fourth Symphony with arguably Mozart&s greatest work for piano. Camerata&s Music Director, G&abor Tak&acs-Nagy, has established many close artistic relationships with musicians the world over, one of which being his teacher – the great Hungarian pianist and chamber musician, Ferenc Rados. In a rare UK performance, Rados, known by his peers as the ‘Teacher of all teachers&, joins Camerata for Mozart&s Piano Concerto no.24 – a feast for the eyes and ears, as the orchestra and pianist feed off each other&s hunger for sound.
‘Blending between piano and orchestra was excellent throughout… Ferenc Rados, a former teacher of Tak&acs-Nagy, played as unfussily and without ego as his programme note (he declined the “pseudo-glamour” of a biography; Steven Isserlis provided a glowing tribute instead).& – Bachtrack, Manchester Camerata review, April 2013
