Mozart, Haydn, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky In Colne

A celebration of the best of strings.Due to illness, Adi Brett will no longer be able to perform at this event; we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Alpesh Chauhan will now conduct and our mesmerising principal cello, Hannah Roberts, will perform one of Haydn&s most popular works, the charming and spiritedCello Concerto in C major, a work which calls for great virtuosity from the soloist. Before that, hear why Tchaikovsky considered Mozart to be ‘The Musical Christ’ in the fast-paced Divertimento in F. Sibelius’ evocative and gorgeously lyricalSuite for Violin and Strings ensues, painting a picture of three delightful country scenes, before Tchaikovsky’s heart-wrenchingly elegiac Serenade for Strings brings the programme to a powerful conclusion.
