After four volumes of concertos from Mozart’s Viennese maturity, Bavouzet tackles four from around his 20th year, on the threshold of genius — only KV 271 in E flat, his first piano concerto masterpiece, is regularly played today. Bavouzet’s crisp, fortepiano-like articulation and the brilliance of the Camerata in the five overtures make these discs captivatingly fresh. HC
