Aboriginal inspiration for Camerata Project

Manchester Camerata has started working with the Royal Exchange Theatre to explore Aboriginal communication techniques with young people in Manchester.
| Songlines are a traditional Aboriginal way of passing on maps of the Australian landscape using musical patterns, in which the rhythms and cadences of the music represent the pitch of the land – it is also possible to represent lakes, stones and trees. Manchester Camerata and the Royal Exchange Theatre are collaborating on their own Songlines Project, working with young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and taking Aboriginal Songlines as their inspiration to create a unique piece of musical theatre. The workshops are designed to build skills in music, drama and teamwork, and will be take place on Monday evenings from 4.00-5.30 pm during the Autumn and Spring terms, at the RNCM and Royal Exchange. |
