Posted on December 11, 2014
Manchester Camerata Youth Forum is celebratating a renewed grant from Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.
Manchester Camerata is delighted to announce that following a successful grant application to the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation (ALW Foundation) funding has been secured to deliver a creative music programme for young people across Greater Manchester, designed and led by Manchester Camerata’s own Youth Forum.
The programme, which runs from Autumn 2014 to Summer 2015, will culminate in two concert performances at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester and Stafford Gatehouse Theatre, in which twenty five members of the Youth Forum will join the orchestra to create and perform an ‘urban fusion’ version of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro Overture.
‘This is great news for Camerata. Our Youth Forum plays an increasingly important role in shaping our youth engagement, and this renewed funding from the ALW Foundation will give us the means to develop a whole range of projects driven by the Youth Forum itself’
– Nick Ponsillo, Head of Learning Participation, Manchester Camerata
Manchester Camerata’s Youth Forum was launched in 2012 with the support of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation. Members of the Forum are drawn from diverse and challenging backgrounds, yet have now become a central part of the entire organisation’s planning and output. The aim of the programme is to aid the personal and social development, creative and transferable skills of the young people involved through music creation and performance. It is also designed to create a pathway from first creative encounter through to peer leader and ultimately on to young, independent artist.
