Camerata In The Community Award Nominations

Posted on October 26, 2016

Congratulations are in order for our fantastic Camerata in the Community team who have been nominated for not one but two awards for their innovative and engaging projects.

The team have been recognised by the Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards for their partnership with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service in presenting Fatal Distraction.

The piece, which also featured a cameo appearance by Crewe’s White Watch and the Cheshire Fire Choir, was the third collaboration between the orchestra and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Fatal Distraction was all about educating young drivers about the dangers that exist on our roads. The project involved four groups from Warrington Collegiate, Riverside College, UCE Academy and South Cheshire College working with a Camerata composer, dramatist and musicians to write a piece, which explored the causes and consequences of road traffic collisions.

We are also thrilled to have been nominated for the Best Classical Music Education Initiative Award at the 2017 Music Teacher Awards for Excellence for ‘FLAME’, our project in partnership with Orchestras Live. The aim was to empower young people to take control and programme their own concert, gaining new skills through a series of workshops from technical procedures, marketing, fundraising and front of house procedures to creative work devising film trailers, creating their own music and deciding on an appropriate programme of music introducing the orchestra to younger children.
