Camerata’s Conisbrough Connection

As part of a three year music programme – A Place for Music – Manchester Camerata will be playing at Conisbrough on 11 February 2011.
Classical music lovers in the Dearne will be able to see one of the country’s leading chamber orchestras in a rare performance at Conisbrough’s historic St Peter’s Church.
| Camerata will perform an intimate and romantic selection of music from Britten, Schubert and Mozart, culminating in a special performance of Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night, that features commissioned live visuals by artist Netia Jones.
This will be a running programme for the venue – that dates back to Saxon times and is one the 10 oldest churches in England. The Place for Music project was launched earlier this month at Doncaster Civic Theatre. It will comprise a series of events over the next three years, leading up to the opening of Doncaster’s New Performance Venue. |

The project also includes an extensive programme of work in primary schools, a musician in residence scheme, family days and master class sessions.
The project has been partly paid for by the Arts Council England following a successful bid by Doncaster Council’s Arts Service, through its HotHouse programme.
