Manchester Camerata Chester School Partnership

The Elements was a term long, inspirational project that placed at its heart the building of relationships and collaboration between two Chester Schools – Dorin Park (a SEN Specialist College) and Upton Heath CE Primary School.

Working with musicians from Manchester Camerata and Drake Music, a dancer from Ludus Dance and visual artist Tess Hills, the pupils from both schools created a large-scale, multi-discipline performance inspired by Rebel’s interpretation of the ancient elements: earth, air, fire, and water, which were borne from chaos. Throughout the project the spirit of friendship grew between the schools and the artists, becoming an additional “element” to be inspired by.

The project saw disabled and non-disabled children contributing their artistic ideas equally and working together to develop these with the artists into the final performance piece, which was shared with over 200 friends and family at a pre-concert performance at the Bridgewater Hall on 29th November.

This project was part of the Chester Festivals Education Proramme in partnership with Manchester Camerata; a year long programme of work funded by the Bank of America charitable foundation.
