Manchester Camerata Board Member Nigel Hirst has been acknowledged as one the North West’s cultural champions.
On Friday 27 April, at a special concert at Chetham’s School of Music, Arts & Business announced its North West Cultural Champions for 2012, honouring the outstanding contributions individuals have made to the Arts. Manchester Camerata Board member, Nigel Hirst, was one of 25 Champions recognised and celebrated at the event.
Arts & Business Cultural Champions is an annual reception honouring exceptional individuals who make a significant contribution to the arts through volunteering, business advice or philanthropic giving. As the Cultural Champions are selected by the arts and cultural organisations, it is their chance to say thank you for the support.
Nigel was nominated not only for his work as a Board member for the last six years, but also for his behind-the-scenes support of the orchestra’s Development work and the ongoing mentoring and advice he has given to many staff members.
Nigel’s business, Haden Freeman Group, is a regular sponsor of the orchestra, supporting both concerts and Learning and Participation projects, and, as a keen amateur ‘cellist himself, Nigel also endows the Chair of Camerata’s Principal ‘Cello.
Manchester Camerata’s Head of Development Charlotte Spencer said “Nigel’s unstinting belief in the orchestra and what it can achieve has helped us reach this exciting point in our history. The time, patience and energy he has invested will ensure Manchester Camerata continues to grow and flourish.”
