‘I Have A Dream’ – Diggle School

'I Have A Dream' workshopTo mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s famous ‘I Have A Dream’ speech, last week Year 4 pupils from Diggle School were treated to an inspiring workshop facilitated by Camerata musicians Amina Hussain and Helen Quayle.

The workshop takes its inspiration from our recent collaboration with the Manchester Literature Festival and Manchester poet, Lemn Sissay. The pupils explored the famous speech and learnt about the civil rights movement in America.

Through games and role play, the pupils experienced what it feels like to be excluded and also discussed what equality means to them, coming up with their own manifesto for Diggle School! Together with Camerata musicians Amina Hussain and Helen Quayle, the children created their own song for equality and performed it at the end of the session.
