Mini Music Makers
Posted on April 6, 2020
Covid-19 has changed everyone’s world in the last few weeks. We
extend our thoughts to you and your families during this strange and unsettling
time.
At Manchester Camerata, we were devastated to have to postpone our upcoming
live performances and, as a charity that relies heavily on ticket income, we
face some challenges ahead. However, through this period, we are still
determined to help our communities in any way we can.
We have always been heavily involved with local care homes through our Music in Mind project, music therapy for people living with dementia. For the moment, we can no longer conduct workshops in person but, with the support and advice of our care homes, we are putting together a pack of music-related activities that can be led by carers, for both groups, or one-on-one for those in isolation.
We are also concerned about primary school children who are at home, indoors for the duration of quarantine. In response to this, we have launched a new series of online videos, each led by a different Camerata musician. The videos are designed for kids aged 5-7, but can be enjoyed by all the family, and include fun games, music-making, craft and singalongs.
Mini Music Makers is born!
A new video will be posted on Manchester Camerata’s Facebook and YouTube channels every week day morning at 10.30am.
