MUSICIANS: Hungarian Night at the Proms

Pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet – who joins Manchester Camerata for its season opening concert Portrait of an Hungarian in September has just appeared at the BBC Proms.

Bavouzet’s performance was one of three visions of Hungary presented by conductor Vladimir Jurowski at the Royal Albert Hall.

The sparklingly tuneful Galanta Dances of Kodaly to the rhythmic vitality of Bartok’s First Piano Concerto (Bavouzet)  and finishing with music by one of this season’s featured composers, Liszt – his Faust Symphony.

Bavouzet was performing in a special Hungarian Night – available on iPlayer until 5 August 2011.
