Principal Clarinet

I enjoy a varied career, combining orchestral, chamber and solo playing. I perform regularly as guest principal clarinet with orchestras such as the  Academy of St Martin in the fields, London Mozart Players, Royal Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, English National Opera and London Sinfonietta.

I also have a keen interest in chamber music and give regular recitals in the Holywell Music Room, Oxford with the Adderbury Ensemble. I am a member of the New Music players, a contemporary music ensemble which perform often throughout the UK. I work in a duo with my pianist Nigel Clayton and together we have performed in both music clubs and festivals, most recently giving a recital in The Bridgewater Hall. I was also  invited to perform in the chamber music festival in Cappenburg and at the Weimar festival with Andras Schiff.

As a soloist, I have recorded the Horovitz Clarinet Concerto with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, a CD of virtuosic clarinet and harp music with Hugh Webb, Nicola Lefanu’s Concertino for Clarinet and Robert Simpson’s Clarinet Quintet. I have also appeared on BBC Radio 3 as a soloist.

I have also performed the Mozart and Weber Concertos and Strauss’s Duo Concertant with my orchestra, Manchester Camerata.
