Co-Leader
Born in Canada, I have an extensive career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral principal. Last season, I performed as a soloist with Manchester Camerata and with London Concertante. I have directed concerts with Manchester Camerata, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and London Concertante. Recent highlights include a performance of Sibelius’ Suite for violin and strings Op.117 with Manchester Camerata and leading Britten Sinfonia.
With my partner Simon Lane, I have won many prizes including the Tillett Trust Young Artist Platform and Park Lane Group Young Artists’ New Year Series, and performed in such venues as the Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, Bridgewater Hall and St. John’s Smith Square. In 2011 and 2014, we recorded part of the ABRSM violin syllabus for the supporting exam material which is distributed worldwide.
I was a founding member of the Barbirolli Quartet which performed extensively throughout Europe including at festivals in Aix-en-Provence, Verbier and Aldeburgh. I am a co-leader of Manchester Camerata and a member of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and regularly guest lead Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and London Concertante. I also co-led the Bournemouth Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony orchestras and Britten Sinfonia.
I teach violin and chamber music at Chetham’s School of Music, pedagogy at the Royal Northern College of Music and have been appointed External Examiner for Bristol University.
