New Year Message from Bob Riley

Happy New Year!

It’s 2010 – how on Earth did that happen? Manchester Camerata finished off the year with fireworks and fabulous singing and playing at The Bridgewater Hall on New Years Eve. All of this very closely followed by some Hungarian/Viennese waltzing with Gabor Takacs-Nagy. Soprano Natalya Romaniw stunned us all; she really is a name to watch out for – and don’t forget you saw her here first!

So for 2010, Camerata brings you more tantalising programmes and groundbreaking Learning work. Our search for Leader and Music Director is now well underway and represents a hugely important change in the orchestra’s history. It’s all in the website so please explore the What’s On section for guest conductors. Alternatively, you could do it the old fashioned way and ring one of us and we can talk you through it!

The support behind an organisation like Manchester Camerata is critical to keeping the orchestra working in concert halls, schools and many other places. There are many ways to become involved with us, from stuffing envelopes, becoming a Patron, through to large scale financial support. And on that note, we look forward to continuing to work with key partners the Bank of America, Haden Freeman and UKFast in 2010.

The key point to remember is that it’s about creating a long term and mutually beneficial relationship between the orchestra, its audience and its supporters. I am always pleased to spend time talking to people who are interested in the orchestra and how to support it so please do call us on 0161 226 8696.

I am sure 2010 will not be without its difficulties. However, with your interest, enjoyment and help I am sure it will be as positive and successful as last year.

All the best

Bob Riley
