Ovation for Pictures from St Petersburg

Triumph for Manchester Camerata on Saturday October 23 – The Pictures from St Petersburg concert at the RNCM Concert Hall brought together Music Director Designate Gábor Takács-Nagy with newly appointed Leader Giovanni Guzzo in Manchester for the first time, with world renowned cellist Miklos Perényi in a thrilling sell-out concert.
There was also the premiere of a new work Windows on the Neva by one of the country’s leading young composers, Nina Whiteman.
A special day in so many ways. Apart from bringing Gábor Takács-Nagy together with newly appointed Leader Giovanni Guzzo in Manchester for the first time, they were joined by the internationally renowned cellist – and fellow Hungarian – Miklos Perényi.
The performance also featured a new work, written by young Manchester based composer Nina Whiteman, which was developed in collaboration with Sound and Music. |
Judging by the applause at the end of the concert, the overal impression of the concert was very favourable indeed.
