Portrait Of Chester: Update

Supported by Philip Barker Trust, seven schools from across Chester have been working with Manchester Camerata musicians, a composer and visual artist to create a new piece of music and visual art inspired by living and growing up in Chester, which will receive a final performance at Chester Cathedral at 2pm on 27 January 2012.

Manchester Camerata has been working with seven schools from across Chester to create a new piece of music and visual art inspired by living and growing up in Chester.

The Camerata team of composer Andy Smith, Visual Artist Harriet Hall, flautist Amina Hussain and horn player Dave Tollington held workshops with two Chester school clusters to create a Portrait of what living in Chester means to them.

They have used photos and composed music to create a new audio/visual work to reflect their own memories and opinions of Chester.

Their new piece of music is to be performed at Chester Cathedral to an audience including the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, the Sheriff of Chester, the Dean of Chester and the Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council at 2pm on 27 January 2012. All are welcome!

The photographic collage in the shape of Chester will also be displayed at the Bridgewater Hall alongside Portraits from other areas as an exhibition piece at our End of Season concert.
