Portrait of Music and Words – Saturday 15 October 2011 – 7.30pm – RNCM Concert Hall |
A celebration of music and words, this programme brings together two composers importantly influenced by the drama of written and spoken word.Additionally, Benjamin Britten brings Rimbaud’s Les Illuminations to life with an extraordinary world of string sonorities.
Mozart’s understanding of human emotion and drama is demonstrated in a selection of arias sung by soprano Rebecca Bottone, incredibly intuitive indeed. Finally, the programme finishes with Mozart’s intensely emotional 40th symphony. As part of Manchester Literature Festival, poet Michael Symmons Roberts will also narrate a new work inspired by this evening’s programme of music. |
