Ulverston’s Urban Experience
Posted on January 7, 2011
Camerata’s latest Urban Symphony performance took place in the Coronation Hall in Ulverston on 2 December 2010, with music and film created by pupils from Croftlands Junior School.
Built to commemorate the coronation of George V, the hall’s English Renaissance style contains plaster reliefs depicting Britannia, and figures representing the arts.
These were used by the children as inspiration for their piece, but they were unable to persuade their guide for the day to reveal the location of the famous mouse hidden in the plasterwork ceiling. The performance also depicted events in the hall, such as the Edwardian New Year Ball, and fashion shows, which the youngsters acted out on film with great relish! |
