UpClose II – Tuesday 7 February 2012
Posted on December 13, 2011
Up Close is part of Manchester Camerata’s mission to take Classical music into different venues around the city – to put this music into new contexts and new environments that are more intimate and relaxed. It also allows us to develop our relationship with the artist John Hyatt and together explore new ideas and ways of presenting Classical music.
The Second performance in our Up Close series takes place at the Deaf Institute on Tuesday 7 February 2012 at 8pm and features an extraordinarily powerful work by Osvaldo Golijov, The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind for string quartet and klezmer clarinet.
An arrangement of some Piazzolla music for string quartet by Simon Parkin will be followed by a full performance of Shostakovich’s most famous and visceral string quartet no 8.
This performance will also feature a collaboration with artist John Hyatt developing throughout the whole Up Close series.
