Beethoven

Date: Saturday 18th May 2013 19:30

Venue: The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester

The big finale of Manchester Camerata&s 40th anniversary season features a feast of Beethoven in the magnificent surroundings of Manchester&s The Bridgewater Hall.

Inspirational Music Director, G&abor Tak&acs-Nagy will be joined by Camerata&s mesmerising and talented young Leader, Giovanni Guzzo, for Beethoven&s Violin Concerto, a great high point in classical music and one of the most popular concertos ever written for the instrument. Although written during a period of great personal turmoil, Beethoven&s Symphony no.2 has an incredible joy and vigour, with a typically uplifting finale. Under the baton of Camerata&s charmingly engaging music director, G&abor Tak&acs-Nagy, this is a concert not to be missed.

Chistopher Mayo, Manchester Camerata&s composer in residence for the season has written an orchestral piece entitled Dockwood which will be premiered on the evening. Christopher Mayo’s residency has been made possible through support from the Sound and Music Embedded Scheme.
