Benedetti Plays Vivaldi

Date: Saturday 20th September 2014 19:30

Venue: The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester

Our 2014-15 Manchester season begins in the mighty surrounds of The Bridgewater Hall. We&ll be filling this iconic space with a powerful and trademark Camerata programme of contrast, this time of religious and worldly inspiration. Joined by one of the world&s most phenomenal violinists, Scottish-born Nicola Benedetti, Camerata’s Music Director G&abor Tak&acs-Nagy will lead the orchestra in Vivaldi&s well known masterpiece, The Four Seasons, and Mozart&s sizzling Linz Symphony. And then silence. Experience the stilling and film-like sound world of Silouan&s Song – a breathtaking hymn for string orchestra, performed in near-darkness, and written by the famed Estonian contemporary composer and Camerata favourite, Arvo P&art.

‘…it was thrilling to hear and watch Nicola Benedetti in a truly risk-taking performance that lived so much in the body and fused the sinews of the violin and the nerve-system of the player.&– Hilary Finch, The Times
