Finale, Fliter Figaro

Date: Saturday 16th May 2015 19:30

Venue: The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester

Exceptional pianist, Ingrid Fliter, performed a sell-out concert with Camerata back in 2012, and returns for our season finale to perform Beethoven’s dramatic Piano Concerto No.2. Showcasing some of the greatest pieces of chamber orchestra repertoire, we open with Mozart’s world-famous Marriage of Figaro Overture. You will then see and hear 20 young people from across Greater Manchester perform a live remix on stage with the orchestra and our very own Youth Forum, inspired by Figaro. The years between The Marriage of Figaro and Symphony No.41 saw Mozart’s creative spirit triumph over a myriad of personal problems, and during the summer of 1788, he crafted his final three symphonies, the last of which, No.41, radiates pure sunshine and joy.

We’re delighted to present the winner of this year’s Composers’ Project, Jack Sheen, and his miniature masterpiece, Etudes.

‘Fliter’s enthusiasm was infectious and from the extent of the applause she had clearly captivated the Manchester audience…’ – Seen and Heard International, Manchester Camerata review
