This concert on the weekend of the 200th anniversary of Haydn’s death is Manchester Camerata’s tribute to this truly original and influential composer. Haydn lived in relative isolation on the Esterhazy estate and without external influences relied on his own imagination, inventiveness and experimentation to develop his compositional style. We&ve selected a symphony from the three stages of Haydn’s career, early, middle and late to highlight how he developed the symphony as a form, and to pay homage to his creative genius. Study Day 2pm – 5pm: Join Julian Rushton, Emeritus Professor at the University of Leeds, for a more in-depth look at how Haydn and his orchestra influenced the development of the symphony. Tickets are £8 if you have a concert ticket or £10 for the afternoon only. Pre Concert performance at 6.30pm Manchester Camerata, BBC Philharmonic and RNCM have created a new website with details of all Haydn events, concerts and more information about the composer.
