Jabberwocky!

Date: Monday 01st September 2008

As part of the 2008 Chester Literature Festival, Manchester Camerata developed an exciting project for 10 primary schools in Chester that looked at the relationship and similarities between music and literature, including elements of the Key Stage 2 literacy and music curricula.

Taking Lewis Carroll’s utterly frabjous nonsense poem as the starting point, participants explored the concepts of word-painting, rhythm and meter in relation to both poetry and composition, before creating and performing their own unique instrumental and vocal interpretations of Jabberwocky! This project was part of the Chester Festivals Education Proramme in partnership with Manchester Camerata; a year long programme of work funded by the Bank of America charitable foundation.
