Jennifer Pike Plays The Lark Ascending In Colne

Date: Wednesday 10th February 2016 19:30

Venue: The Muni Theatre, Colne

Former BBC Young Musicians Jennifer Pike and a performer with roots in the North West, joins Camerata for that matchless evocation of the moorland landscape, The Lark Ascending, based on George Meredith&s pastoral poem. The exuberance of youth is a feature of both Mozart’s Symphony No.1, written when he was only 8 years old, and the relatively ancient Schubert, whose Symphony No.5 was written when he was 19. Both died tragically young, but their influence was enormous – our featured symphonies are bursting with energy and great melodies.
