Mendelssohn, Mozart, Haydn In Bury St Edmunds
Date: Wednesday 27th March 2013 19:30
Venue: The Apex Bury St Edmunds, Bury St Edmunds
Manchester Camerata’s first visit to The Apex in Bury St Edmunds brings a programme of classics from the pens of the great masters, Mozart, Haydn and Mendelssohn.
Mendelssohn’s melodic and masterful String Symphony no.10 is unbelievably the work of a 13 year old, whilst his lesser known (but still remarkable) D minor Violin Concerto was resurrected from obscurity by the young Yehudi Menuhin. Mozart’s Symphony no.29, written when he was just 18 years old, is a work which shows the genius of the composer, bringing colour, atmosphere and energy to a piece written for a relatively small orchestra. Finally to conclude the programme, Haydn that great chronicler of human characters is on dark and brooding form in his Symphony no.29 La Passione.
