Mozart Piano Concerto No 20 – Leeds
Date: Saturday 20th October 2012 19:30
Venue: Leeds Town Hall, Leeds
The young Swiss-Italian pianist Francesco Piemontesi joinsG&abor Tak&acs-Nagy and Manchester Camerata in one of Mozart’s most dark and brooding, yet lyrical of piano concertos. Two British string masterpieces also feature, Holst’s ever popular, dance-infused St Paul’s Suite and Elgar’s Sospiri, meaning sighs, a melodic work of tragic beauty written in the build up to the First World War. There is also the opportunity to hear Haydn’s Symphony no.92, nicknamed the Oxford, a work brimming with invention and humour.
