This beautiful concert of romantic serenades for strings is very appropriately taking place just before Valentine&s Day, in fact the title of Sibelius&s Rakastava even means ‘The Lover& in translation. Directed by Adi Brett, who takes the soloist role in Schubert&s concerto-like Rondo, this programme showcases the rich and powerful sound of Manchester Camerata’s string section, particularly in Elgar’s noble music and Tchaikovsky’s intensely romantic Serenade.
