The centre-piece of this programme performed by Camerata’s principal players is Schubert’s wonderfully lyrical and much-loved Octet. A charming bassoon quartet by the German composer Danzi, a contemporary of Mozart and Beethoven, is followed by a transcription of Strauss’s riotous and witty Till Eulenspiegel, condensed down from its original massive orchestration into a score for five players! There’ll also be a surprise new work by Camerata’s talented composer-in-residence, Brahim Kerkour.
Talking Point, 6.30pmCamerata Composer in Residence Brahim Kerkour talks to bassoonist Laurence Perkins about his new work, and its context within this evening’s programme.Watch the trailer hereDownload programme notes here
