Sound Struck: Music As You’Ve Never Heard It Before

On 5 March, Manchester Camerata and Dowdales School will present two schools concerts (10.30-11.30am and 1.30-2.30pm) entitled Sound struck: Music as you’ve never heard it before, which will introduce children to the instruments of the orchestra in a exciting and engaging way.
These concerts have been coordinated by students from Dowdales School, who have been working with the Manchester Camerata team this year to select the programme, coordinate marketing and PR and develop their stage management and technical skills as well as direct the orchestra, in partnership with Orchestras Live as part of First Time Live.
The concert will also feature a performance by the Dowdales students entitled Figaro on the Loose. This newly-composed piece is a remix of Mozart&s Marriage of Figaro and has been created by the students with the support of Manchester Camerata practitioners based on the themes, mood and harmonies of the piece, as well as their own artistic inspirations.
